Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation 101 Course
The VSI in partnership with the College of Optometrist in Vision Development or COVD wishes to invite you to attend the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation 101 Course.
Course Description:
This course is designed to:
- Advance the understanding of the base of support (BOS) and the visual process.
- It will reveal how vision can affect movement and postural relationships.
- It will show the concatenation of changes possible to posture, movement and spatial orientation.
- This course will emphasize the profound relationship between
the motor system and the senses, particularly vision. - This course will provide the advanced concepts, as well as the sequence and methods of working with Acquired Brain Injury patients and prisms.
- You will learn how the motor system can be used to advance your therapeutic intervention to the highest level for your patients with Concussion and ABI.
Specific course objectives & competencies to be gained from the Program:
- The goal is that by the end of this course, the participant will have a better understanding between the relationship of the visual-spatial process and its primary role in rehabilitation following a neurological event.
- The course is a practical demonstration
designed to advance the knowledge and skills of optometrist and therapist through videos, case studies, and workshop demonstrations in therapy techniques and use of rehabilitative lenses/prisms (as prescribed).
